Formed in 1996, the Foundation's goal is to ensure that all Californians have access to affordable, quality health care. CHCF commissions research and analysis, publishes and disseminates information, convenes stakeholders, and funds development of programs and models aimed at improving the health care delivery and financing systems.

School of Public HealthSince its founding in 1919, the Berkeley School of Public Health has become one of the world's preeminent centers dedicated to the promotion and protection of the health of human populations and is noted for the excellence of its programs in teaching, research, and service activities. These programs, grounded in an understanding of biological and social science theories and mechanisms, are integrated through a focus on communities that reach from the neighborhoods surrounding the Berkeley campus to settings around the world.

Clinical_ExcellenceThe Clinical Excellence Research Center organizes research teams from multiple Stanford Schools to design and test new methods of health care delivery that substantially reduce population-wide disability and annual per capita health spending in the near term. Research is led by teams of post-doctoral Stanford Schools with initial emphasis of Business, Engineering and Medicine.

Center for Health Policy (CHP) and the Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research (PCOR)The Center for Health Policy (CHP) and the Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research (PCOR) are two Stanford University centers carrying out innovative research on critical issues of health care and health policy — dedicated to providing reliable information for health policy and health care delivery to public and private sector decision-makers.

PAMF's Research Institute is recognized nationally and internationally as a center of excellence in health care services, health policy, health promotion and outcomes research and training. Its goal is to design, execute, and rigorously evaluate new models of health promotion and health care using state-of-the-art research methods. Partnering with Sutter Health and university-based colleagues, it enhances the generalizability and applicability of research findings and works with PAMF to bring research findings into practice.

The Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy StudiesThe Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (IHPS) an organized research unit established by the President and Regents of the University of California. The primary goals of IHPS are:

  • to conduct policy-oriented research and analysis on a wide range of health issues;
  • to apply research findings to health policy issues at the national, state, and local levels;
  • and to provide education and training opportunities in health policy and health services research
